Another Week, Another Failure to Govern by Rep. Ken Calvert and House Republicans
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Didn’t we just do this? Yesterday, Rep. Calvert and House Republicans failed to pass a continuing budget resolution on the House floor. If this episode of legislative incompetence feels familiar, it’s because we’ve been here before – just last week when Speaker Johnson pulled the continuing resolution bill before a vote.
Chaos has defined the budget process since Republicans took control of the House – as Rep. Calvert prioritizes advancing the Project 2025 agenda over actually doing his job.
This continuing resolution incorporated the so-called SAVE Act, an extreme legislative proposal intended to promote misinformation about our elections and lay the groundwork for future efforts to overturn election results. Rep. Calvert voted with extreme MAGA House Republicans on the original SAVE Act bill to falsely cast doubt in the integrity of our elections.
In response to this weekly episode of legislative incompetence, House Accountability War Room spokesperson Malachi White released the same statement as last week:
“Passing a continuing resolution to prevent a government shutdown is the bare minimum, and while Congress should at least be capable of that, Rep. Calvert and House Republicans just can’t get it done. Why? Because House Republicans are so obsessed with promoting election conspiracy theories and advancing their Project 2025 agenda, that they are incapable of fulfilling one of their basic responsibilities. Unfortunately, it’s the American people – as always – who will ultimately pay the price for these cycles of chaos and extremism.”
