House Accountability War Room: Freedom to Vote Act is the “Perfect Contrast” to MAGA’s Extreme Elections Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, House Democrats led by Leader Hakeem Jeffries re-introduced the Freedom to Vote Act. The Freedom to Vote Act would ensure voting protections for all Americans and would strengthen our democracy – a stark contrast from the voter intimidation bill MAGA Republicans introduced last week that will strip these same protections.

José Morales, Jr., spokesperson for House Accountability War Room, released the following statement on the bill:

“At this critical juncture for our country, the re-introduction of the Freedom to Vote Act stands as the perfect contrast to MAGA Republicans’ American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act that would make it harder for voters, especially voters of color, to cast their ballots free of intimidation,” Morales said.

“Americans deserve leaders who are interested in expanding our freedom to vote. Instead, the proposal from MAGA Republicans is breathtakingly extreme: refusing to acknowledge that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, dismantling the Biden Administration’s work to make voter registration more accessible, and giving their blessing to gerrymandering and voter intimidation. Today shows once again that House Democrats are determined to tackle the very real threats facing our democracy. Unfortunately, those threats are coming from inside the House.”
