ICYMI: Marjorie Taylor Greene Admits Meeting With McCarthy Weekly As He Defends Her Jan. 6 Comments
WASHINGTON, D.C. — As Business Insider reported this morning, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has stated that she and a group of Republicans she calls “the five families” — a reference to the New York mafia — meet with Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on a weekly basis.
The remark from Greene comes one day after McCarthy defended Greene’s pro-insurrectionist comments at a New York Young Republican Club gala over the weekend.
“As McCarthy continues to make concession after concession to the extreme MAGA wing of his conference, the news that he is meeting with Marjorie Taylor Greene on a weekly basis to get her sign-off on strategy for the upcoming Congress tells us all we need to know about what to expect from this new majority,” said Zac Petkanas senior advisor to the House Accountability War Room. “Come January, Greene’s extremist pro-insurrection, pro-QAnon worldview will not only be fodder for headlines — it will be the official agenda of the U.S. House of Representatives.”
As a reminder, here are some of the things Rep. Greene has said and stood for:
A few days ago, Greene made violent, pro-insurrectionist comments on what would have happened if she had organized the January 6th insurrection. Greene said, “If Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, we would’ve been armed.”
Greene is an election denier and a major proponent of the Big Lie. On January 5th, 2021, Greene told Newsmax that January 6th would be “our 1776 moment.”
After the January 6th Insurrection, Greene told a YouTuber “I am one of those people” who would have been at the January 6th riots, adding, “that’s exactly who I am.”
Greene, who is “unabashedly pro-QAnon,” called QAnon “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take this global cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophiles out.”
Greene “indicated support for executing prominent Democrats in 2018 and 2019 before running for Congress.”
Greene voted against the right to contraception.
