“MAGA Math” = Casting Over 1,000 Votes to Make an Election Denier Speaker

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, House Accountability War Room spokesperson Albert Fujii condemned extreme House Republicans’ efforts to make an election denier Speaker of the House. In total, House Republicans cast 1,075 for election deniers this month

“Over 1,000 votes to hand an election denier the Speaker’s gavel? That’s MAGA Math.”

THE MATH:

  • On October 25, 220 House Republicans voted for Rep. Mike Johnson, an election denier who voted to overturn the election results in 2020 and Johnson led the amicus brief in a Texas lawsuit to invalidate millions of votes.
  • On October 20, 211 House Republicans voted for election deniers:
    • 194 voted for Rep. Jim Jordan. Rep. Jordan was a “significant player” in the efforts to overturn the 2020 election, including voting to overturn the election results.
    • Additionally, 8 House Republicans voted for Rep. Steve Scalise, 4 voted for Rep. Lee Zeldin, 2 voted for Rep. Kevin McCarthy, 2 voted for Rep. Byron Donalds and 1 voted for Rep. Mike Garcia, all of whom voted to overturn the election results in 2020.
  • On October 18, 216 House Republicans voted for election deniers:
    • 199 voted for Rep. Jim Jordan.
    • Additionally, 7 House Republicans voted for Rep. Steve Scalise, 5 voted for Rep. Kevin McCarthy, 3 voted for Rep. Lee Zeldin, 1 voted for Rep. Byron Donalds and 1 voted for Rep. Mike Garcia, all of whom voted to overturn the election results in 2020.
  • On October 17, 218 House Republicans voted for election deniers:
    • 200 voted for Rep. Jim Jordan.
    • Additionally, 7 House Republicans voted for Rep. Steve Scalise, 6 voted for Rep. Kevin McCarthy, 3 voted for Rep. Lee Zeldin, 1 voted for Rep. Mike Garcia and 1 voted for Rep. Tom Cole, all of whom voted to overturn the election results in 2020.
  • On October 3, 210 House Republicans voted for Rep. Kevin McCarthy. Rep. McCarthy is an election denier who voted to overturn the election results in 2020.
