MAGA Republicans Scramble to Pass Short-Term Spending Bill and Punt Shutdown Deadline

Statement: “MAGA extremists join a short-term spending bill and make it clear that they are more determined than ever to push their harmful agenda through Congress in the upcoming weeks.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, House Accountability War Room issued the following statement in response to the passage of another short-term funding bill.

“While Congress took an important step to protect Americans from the repercussions of a MAGA shutdown by passing a short-term spending bill, this move is not a long-term solution,” said Albert Fujii, the House Accountability War Room’s spokesperson. “This temporary fix should not distract from the fact that Speaker Johnson and MAGA extremists like Marjorie Taylor Greene are eager to push their deeply unpopular and extreme agenda through in the following weeks—putting Americans at risk yet again. Instead of more political stunts, House Republicans must put people over politics and back bipartisan government funding bills with no poison pills and no cuts to the programs their constituents need.”
