Mike Johnson Is Preparing to Try To Overturn the Election (Again)

WASHINGTON — Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson is suggesting baseless legal action to challenge the Democratic nominee for President. This would not be the first time Speaker Johnson, a mastermind of the effort to overturn the 2020 election results, attempted to undermine a Presidential election.

On ABC’s “This Week” this past Sunday, Johnson said:

“So, it would be wrong, and I think unlawful in accordance to some of these states’ rules, for a handful of people to go in a back room and switch it out because.. they don’t like the candidate any longer… I think they would run into some legal impediments in at least a few of these jurisdictions.”

This echoes claims he also made at the Republican National Convention last week, when he said, “I think in states where it can be contested, I expect that it will be, and they’ll have an interesting battle on their hands.”

In response to Johnson’s threats, House Accountability War Room spokesperson José Morales, Jr. issued the following statement:

“Known election denier and Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson is up to his old tricks again. He led the efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election and he’s laying the groundwork to do it again so he can make Project 2025 a reality. His House colleagues have a choice: fight for their constituents’ freedoms or enable Mike Johnson’s anti-democracy extremism.”
