NEW REPORT: 100 Days of the Mike Johnson Speakership

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, House Accountability War Room, in partnership with Accountable.US, Media Matters for America, Congressional Integrity Project, and Navigator Research, released “100 Days of Johnson’s MAGA House,” a new report on Mike Johnson’s time as Speaker of the House. The report outlines how Speaker Johnson chose to push an extreme MAGA agenda in his first 100 days, including by defending election deniers, refusing to commit to certifying the 2024 election, pushing poison pills in funding bills, and pushing extreme anti-abortion policies.

“Speaker Johnson is an election denier and MAGA extremist who’s used his position as Speaker of the House to push forward an extreme and unpopular agenda,” said Albert Fujii, Spokesperson for the House Accountability War Room. “From his pursuit of radical abortion restrictions to his whitewashing of the January 6 insurrection, Johnson spent his first 100 days as Speaker attacking working families and our democracy. It’s time this MAGA majority starts choosing constituents over chaos.”

“The more we’ve learned about Speaker Johnson over the course of his first 100 days in office, the worse it’s gotten. From his far-right voting record to his history of radical comments to his legal career dedicated to rolling back LGBTQ and abortion rights, Mike Johnson is a champion for the most extreme faction of the House MAGA majority,” said Caroline Ciccone, President of Accountable.US. “Speaker Johnson’s leadership has only meant more desperate political stunts to push a fringe agenda instead of actually solving the issues facing our nation.”

“Mike Johnson has been nothing but a MAGA puppet, propping up the worst members of the MAGA Congress in order to advance his own radical, extremist agenda,” said Kyle Herrig, Executive Director of the Congressional Integrity Project. “The past 100 days have shown what happens when the Speaker of the House focuses more on partisan, political stunts instead of legislation: bellyflop after bellyflop, failure after failure.”

“100 days after Congressional Republicans spent weeks fighting over which extremist should lead their party instead of actually governing, Americans overwhelmingly agree that Republicans in Congress are unproductive and dysfunctional,” said Bryan Bennett, Lead Pollster for Navigator Research. “This data also shows that Republicans have chosen a Speaker in Mike Johnson who has a record that Americans view as entirely out of line with what they actually want from their government.”
