Rep. Van Orden’s Defense Of Trump Post Conviction Confirms He’s An Extreme MAGA House Republican

WASHINGTON — Today, in response to Congressman Van Orden (R-WI) attacking the jury’s decision to convict former President Donald Trump, House Accountability War Room spokesperson Zac Petkanas released the following statement:

“In the United States, no one is above the law – and the constituents of Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District agree. Unfortunately, Rep. Van Orden is now willing to throw that central tenet of American democracy in the garbage. In the days following Trump’s conviction, Rep. Van Orden has repeatedly invoked Nazi Germany and Adolf Hitler, including comparing Judge Merchan and President Biden to Nazi leaders, attacked our democratic jury system, and called a state Supreme Court justice “a scumbag”. This isn’t Rep. Van Orden’s first time attacking democracy, disrespecting the rule of law, and embarrassing Wisconsin. He’s long been an election denier who breached police barricades at the US Capitol on January 6 during the insurrection. Again and again, Rep. Van Orden singles himself out as one of the most extreme MAGA House Republicans. House Republicans must remember: no one is above the law: not even former president Donald Trump,” said Petkanas.

@DerrickVanOrden: “The Biden Administration has worked a miracle.   They managed to combine a Banana Republic, a Soviet Style show trial, Mao’s cultural revolution, topped off with a Nazi style judge and kept a straight face the whole time.   Frankly, it is remarkable.”
