SHAME: House Republicans Use Veterans Bill To Pass Extreme Abortion Restrictions
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Yesterday, the Republican House passed their first government funding bill in a 219-211 vote, which included a provision further restricting access to abortion.
As The Hill reported, the bill would “prevent VA medical centers from being able to perform abortions.”
“It’s outrageous for House Republicans to use our veterans as political pawns in their march to ban abortion across the country after the Republican Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade,” said Zac Petkanas, Senior Advisor to the House Accountability War Room. “This legislation should be solely focused on fulfilling our promises to the men and women in uniform – not used as a vehicle to jam through a deeply unpopular and extreme MAGA agenda banning reproductive freedom that couldn’t pass on its own. It’s sick and shows exactly where their priorities lie.”
