SHOT/CHASER: MAGA House Majority & CPAC Speaker Call for the “End of Democracy”

SHOT: Last week, the MAGA Republicans who orchestrated the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) invited Matt Posobiec, an extreme conservative and conspiracist, to speak where he called for the “end of democracy.” 

Extremist Republicans like Jack Posibiec are openly calling for an end to America’s democracy as we know it: “Welcome to the end of democracy! We are here to overthrow it completely. We didn’t get all the way there on January 6th, but we will endeavor to get rid of it and replace it. […] All glory is not to government. All glory to God.”

Posobiec’s comments are dangerous given the increased amount of political violence plaguing the country. This is just another example of the type of extremism that is now at the core of the extreme Republican’s MAGA agenda.

CHASER: Three years after January 6th insurrection, the horrific attack on our democracy that left five dead, MAGA Republicans like Matt Gaetz are blatantly attempting to rewrite history and spread misinformation that threatens our elections.

It’s pretty hard to argue that MAGA extremists aren’t a threat to our democracy when they invite people who call for the “end of democracy.” 

To all those who attended CPAC—including MAGA Majority Leadership Mike Johnson and Elise Stefanik—we ask you to answer these questions:

• Do you approve of Posobiec’s call to end democracy and overthrow our government?
• Do you condone the violent rhetoric used by Posobiec and numerous other speakers at CPAC?
• Do you support the Christian nationalist agenda being pushed by Posobiec and others throughout CPAC?
