SHOT/CHASER: Speaker Johnson Backs National Abortion Ban That Doctors Call “Hellish Reality”

SHOT: Just days before the 51st anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Roe v. Wade, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson rallied with March for Life, touting House Republicans’ dangerous and deeply unpopular efforts to ban abortion nationwide.

Johnson has been one of the biggest anti-abortion crusaders in the House, spending his entire career attempting to strip people of their bodily autonomy. He celebrated when Roe v. Wade was overturned, has voted for numerous national abortion bans, and has even pushed for doctors to face jail time and penalties for performing abortions.

CHASER: Yesterday, on the anniversary of Roe, doctors, health professionals, and advocates from across the country condemned the national abortion bans that MAGA extremists like Speaker Johnson and other ultra-conservative Republicans have pushed after the decision was overturned in 2022.
