Another Week, Another Failure to Govern by Speaker Johnson and House Republicans

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Didn’t we just do this? Today, House Republicans once again failed to pass a continuing budget resolution. If this feels familiar, it’s because we’ve been here before – just last week.

Chaos has defined the budget process since Republicans took control of the House – as Speaker Johnson prioritizes advancing the Project 2025 agenda over actually doing his job.

In response to this weekly episode of legislative incompetence, House Accountability War Room spokesperson Malachi White released the same statement as last week:

“Passing a continuing resolution to prevent a government shutdown is the bare minimum, and while Congress should at least be capable of that, House Republicans just can’t get it done. Why? Because House Republicans are so obsessed with promoting election conspiracy theories and advancing their Project 2025 agenda, that they are incapable of fulfilling one of their basic responsibilities. Unfortunately, it’s the American people – as always – who will ultimately pay the price for these cycles of chaos and extremism.”
