New Digital Campaign Ties Project 2025 to Priorities and Record of House Republican Leadership
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today the House Accountability War Room launched a new digital campaign holding House Republicans accountable for embracing the policies of Project 2025, an unprecedented and dangerous takeover by MAGA Republicans and wealthy billionaire donors that rolls back Americans’ rights and freedoms, threatens our democracy, and hurts the middle class. Four websites launched today focus on the records of Speaker Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02), and Congressman David Schweikert (AZ-01). Additional websites will follow targeting additional House Republicans who have embraced Project 2025 priorities.
Those priorities have included privatizing Medicare, repealing the Inflation Reduction Act, gutting food stamps for people in need, removing health insurance protections for people with pre-existing conditions, cutting IRS funding to make it easier for corporations and the wealthy to cheat, and raising monthly insulin costs. There is clear overlap between House Republicans’ and Project 2025’s priorities.
To mark the launch of the new website, the House Accountability War Room spokesperson Danny Turkel released the following statement:
“House Accountability War Room’s research is clear: several Project 2025 policies are already being advanced by House Republicans. Despite their best efforts to distance themselves from Project 2025, House Republicans can’t hide from their own records. All it takes is a quick look at how they’ve voted and the budgets they’ve proposed to see Project 2025 isn’t someone else’s plan, it’s House Republicans’ plan that they’re working to enact. We’re putting them on notice and we have more to come.”
